The Disney Scoop, Issue #025– Disney Discounts, News, Tips, and more….
November 04, 2009

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a busy, busy month around here…lot’s of sports, activities, homework, and projects! Sometimes it’s so crazy it makes me wish I was someplace else – I’ll give you three guesses where that place would be!

I know many of you are heading down to Disney in the next month or two. What a great time of year to visit the parks! The fantastic decorations and holiday atmosphere will most definitely put you in the Christmas mood! It is by far my most favorite time to visit Disney World. So, have fun and be sure to check out the tips section for all kinds of trip tips.

Let’s get the housekeeping items out of the way. First, a reminder to those traveling to Disney World from now through April. Your 180 day window is now open. For those going in May 2010, your 180 day point is quickly approaching! Get ready to make all of your dining reservations and set your alarm for 7:00 am eastern time on your reservation day! Or you can go online system at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. For those going before then, hopefully you have already made all of your desired reservations.

**Note that the ADR window is now 180 days as of October 27th, 2009.** In order to aid guests in their planning, the park hours will also be released 180 days in advance. Yay!!

If you use Facebook and you’d like to become a fan, leave a note, or even start a discussion, go to Plan a Magical Vacation on Facebook. Maybe post some interesting photos from your trips.

Once again, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who made a donation to the website this month. Remember, your donations help defray the costs associated with creating and maintaining the site. Thanks again.

Finally, if you are in the early stages of planning your trip, or don’t even know where to begin, I suggest you start with the Disney Vacation Plan Step by Step Guide.

If you haven’t already, I suggest that you try the Disney planning spreadsheet. It is a simple spreadsheet that makes planning out your Disney days super easy! Please contact me for the sheet – I’d be happy to send it to you.

Okay, on with the news!

Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment.

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for refurbishment until January 10th, 2010. Blizzard Beach will be open during this period of time.

If you make a Tusker House reservation between 1:50 pm and 2:45 pm, you’ll get tickets for the 4:45 performance. You are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to show time.

Temporary Changes to the Liberty Tree Tavern

The Liberty Tree Tavern, located in the Magic Kingdom, will temporarily be having character meals. This change will take place starting on January 3rd, 2010 and continue through February 15th, 2010. The purpose of this change is to accommodate for the closure of the Crystal Palace during this time period. The Liberty Tree Tavern will offer character dining for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All meals will be served family style and are all-you care-to-enjoy.

Park Merchandise now available for order online!

“Ever admired a pair of customized Mickey Mouse ears or a Disney Princess castle toy while on a Disney vacation, and later regretted not buying it once you returned home? Or wished you could travel to Disneyland wearing a Disneyland t-shirt en route? Now, for the first time ever, you can purchase select merchandise from Disney’s domestic theme parks and resorts outside of the parks and online only at DisneyStore.com  and/or DisneyParks.com/store.”

Tip of the Month
Add Trip Insurance Last

If you must add Trip Insurance to your Disney World vacation package, I suggest that you do not add it at the time of booking. Often, the cost of the trip insurance is non-refundable. So if you book a trip, pay the deposit, and then for some reason have to cancel the trip, you could very well forfeit the cost of the trip insurance (which may be about the same cost of the deposit!). So, before you add the trip insurance, please read the fine print.
