February 11, 2010
|Hello Everyone!Greetings from the great white tundra! Here in the Philadelphia area we have had two huge snow storms in the last week – about 4 feet of snow! So please forgive me for getting this issue out a little late.
I’d like to take this time to send out a reminder to those traveling to Disney World in July and early August. Your 180 day window is now open. For those going in the second half of August 2010, your 180 day point is quickly approaching! Get ready to make all of your dining reservations and set your alarm for 7:00 am eastern time on your reservation day! Or you can go online system at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. For those going before then, hopefully you have already made all of your desired reservations.

In this month’s Disney Scoop
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2010) – The Main Street Electrical Parade lights up the streets of Magic Kingdom and headlines a season of after-dark excitement coming to Walt Disney World Resort.
“After the sun goes down, our Walt Disney World parks will light up the night with Summer Nightastic!, ” announced Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort, at a media event Wednesday.
Disney magic will shine and shimmer in a whole new light. Here’s a look around:
With floats and characters appearing for the first time at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade returns with its joyous sights and sounds. Direct from Disneyland and marking its first engagement in Florida since 2001, the cherished parade will be led by Tinker Bell waving from the basket of a magical balloon aboard a new float. Pinocchio and Snow White join the parade this summer, aboard bright new floats. Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade is set for its summer-long nighttime premiere in early June at Magic Kingdom.
The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror welcomes “drop-ins” this summer with even more pulse-racing surprises. New lighting effects and the addition of a new drop sequence, created especially for Summer Nightastic!, will bring unexpected frights to guests who step into that infamous service elevator. If they dare.
What could be more summery than fireworks on a star-studded night? Magic Kingdom will treat guests to a special summer fireworks spectacular. The night sky will explode in vivid colors and brilliant visual effects as whimsical music fills the air.
Other fun! The return of the Sounds Like Summer concert series to Epcot and extended evening hours at Disney’s Animal Kingdom several times a week add up to summer fun as only Disney can do – at all four Walt Disney World theme parks.
Two new World Showcase restaurants
Below is the statement released by Disney regarding two new restaurants coming to Italy and Mexico in the World Showcase in Epcot:
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Two exciting additions are coming to Epcot World Showcase, with culinary expansions under way at the Italy pavilion and Mexico pavilion.
In Italy, an authentic Neapolitan pizzeria is under construction with opening planned for fall 2010 in time for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Operated by Patina Restaurant Group, the same restaurateurs who run the pavilion’s Tutto Italia Ristorante, the 300-seat pizzeria is inspired by Naples 45, another Patina Restaurant Group pizzeria on East 45th Street in New York City.
The casual pizzeria will feature wood-burning ovens – and will import water from a source that most resembles the water in Naples, Italy, home of some of the world’s best pizza dough. The menu also will feature pastas, salads, sandwiches and Italian wines.
The 14,000-square-foot space will include indoor and outdoor dining.
At Mexico, the popular Cantina de San Angel restaurant is expanding, and will feature 400 seats with al fresco seating for lunch and a perfect place for viewing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the nightly Epcot fireworks spectacular.
The restaurant will feature south-of-the border creations from the culinary team at San Angel Inn LLC, who have run both the outside eatery and the pavilion’s San Angel Inn for more than 25 years. Opening also is set for fall 2010.
Special Occasion Voicemails at Disney World Resort Hotels
Celebrating a special occasion during your stay at Walt Disney World?
You can now receive a voicemail from a Disney character on your resort room phone. When booking your room, the cast member will note the celebration on your reservation, which will trigger a voicemail call.
There are pre-made voicemails for birthdays, romantic celebrations, or a general celebration voicemail. There is no charge to the guest for this feature.
Wide World of Sports Changes
The 220-acre sports complex at Walt Disney World will officially re-launch on February 25, 2010, as the “ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex”, with more than 40 high-definition and robotic video cameras, 10 handheld cameras, and 40 high-definition video screens, including two Jumbotrons placed throughout the complex.
