The Disney Scoop, Issue #030-- Disney Discounts, News, Tips, and more....
July 01, 2010

Hello Everyone!

Lots of fun Disney World news and announcements lately!

If you need tickets and would like a discount (and who wouldn’t!), don’t forget to check out Maple Leaf – they always have a good discount. (They sell discounted Universal and other Orlando attraction tickets too.)

I hope you are all enjoying the summer so far!! We just made our annual trek to Gamestop…so the boys are occupied at the moment with their new purchase!

Before I go any further, I’d like to take this time to send out a reminder to those traveling to Disney World in December. Your 180 day window is now open. For those going in January 2011, your 180 day point is quickly approaching! Get ready to make all of your dining reservations and set your alarm for 7:00 am eastern time on your reservation day! Or you can use the online system at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. I have been trying out the online system and I have to say that I really like it! For those going before then, hopefully you have already made all of your desired reservations.

Once again, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who made a donation to the website this month, especially Joanne and family from the UK. If you have found our website to be helpful in planning your trip, please consider making a contribution. Remember, your donations help defray the costs associated with creating and maintaining the site. See the Chip In section to donate or to learn more. Thanks again.

Lastly, if you haven’t already, I suggest that you check out the Disney vacation planning spreadsheet. It is a simple spreadsheet that makes planning out your Disney days super easy! Read more about the spreadsheet.

In this month's Disney Scoop

As always, if you have any feedback or questions, please send me a note.

Toy Story 3 Video Game
(back to Table of Contents)

The all new Toy Story 3 The Video Game looks like a whole lot of fun – especially the new Toy Box open play mode! The movie was great and I’m sure the game will provide hours of family fun.

Disney Silly Bandz
(back to Table of Contents)

Okay I am sure you all have heard about the crazy-popular fad – Silly Bandz….but did you know they also make Disney-themed bandz? Check them out on Amazon, they have Mickey and Friends, Princesses, Toy Story, Fairies, and more.

Disney to open a Pet Hotel
(back to Table of Contents)

A new hotel just for pets is scheduled to open on August 27th at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

The new Best Friends Pet Care Resort will be a luxury pet resort and will offer accommodations, grooming services, walks, treats, etc - everything a pampered pet could dream of!

The resort will encompass 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, 10,000 square feet of which will be covered outdoor runs and play areas for dogs. There will also be a private dog park where owners can visit while on vacation.

This sounds like a fantastic alternative to boarding your pet at home – because you’ll have the ability to visit during your Disney vacation! I know it kills me to board my dog….but I think if I could check in on him a few times during our stay I’d feel much better about it!

Start or expand your Disney DVD collection
(back to Table of Contents)

Looking for a quick and easy way to expand your Disney DVD library? A great way to do that is to join the Disney Movie Club. Right now, you can get 4 Disney Movies for $1.99 Each, plus FREE SHIPPING! Disney DVDs are a wonderful way to bring the magic home - and a nice way to pass a lazy summer day!

Start Your Own Web Business!
(back to Table of Contents)

During the past few months, I’ve had numerous people inquire about my website – like how I started it, how income is generated, and what’s all involved in getting a site up-and-running. I thought I would share a couple of things with all of you about this topic.

In this time of economic upheaval, an internet business is a great alternative or replacement for a traditional office job. Think about it. You get to share your thoughts and opinions on a topic near and dear to your heart – and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home – even in your pajamas if you wish!

What about you? Do you have something that you are passionate about? Are you looking for a way to make some extra money each month? Are you a student, a retiree or maybe a stay-at-home mom who needs a creative outlet?

Why not start a website? I know it sounds intimidating, but hear me out. I knew NOTHING about website building when I started… so I really needed a “Website-Builder-for-Dummies” kind of thing – and guess what? I found it. It is called Site Build It! It is a wonderful service that does all of the behind-the-scenes work for you – leaving you to focus solely on the content of your website.

Please feel free to ask me about it or just go check it out for yourself!

Discounted Tickets
(back to Table of Contents)

If you are not using a Disney vacation package, you can either purchase your park tickets directly from Disney at the gate, or you can get discounted Disney World tickets from an outside vendor.

These vendors buy tickets in bulk and pass the savings on to you – the consumer! I recommend buying your Disney tickets or tickets for other Orlando attractions from Maple Leaf Tickets. In addition to Disney tickets, they also offer discounts on many Orlando area shows, attractions, dinner shows, and theme parks.

They offer competitive pricing paired with over twenty years of industry experience. They’ll even deliver your tickets to your resort hotel or directly to your home before your vacation!

Give the Gift of Disney Stock
(back to Table of Contents)

I’ve always heard about the deal where you can give (or get!) a share of Disney Stock as a gift. I just thought I would pass along the idea to all of you. Now is a great time to buy stock – considering the state of the markets today. So, check it out. You can even buy a Framed Share of Walt Disney Stock
through the My First Stock Program – that would make a really unique gift for a baby shower or a graduation, or even a birthday or Valentine’s Day!

Tip of the Month (worth repeating!)
(back to Table of Contents)

Lost and Found…

Disney World is a HUGE place! And let’s face it….we all lose things! Disney World has a great Lost and Found. I have personally witnessed amazing cast members utilizing hand held radios to locate my neice’s lost Santa hat – and magically return it to her during our meal in the Castle! Just a week or two ago, fellow Scooper Steve B. from Illinois contacted WDW Lost and Found after returning home from his trip. Lo and Behold – Disney found and returned his son’s camera that was lost during a day at Epcot!

If you need to contact Disney Lost and Found, simply call (407) 824-4245 between 9am and 7pm. Good Luck!
