My Happy Place
My first trip to Disney World was when I was 11. It was the early 70s and Disney was brand new.
Oh my gosh....I had never seen anything like it! I was enthralled from the moment I stepped onto Main Street. I felt like I was home.
My Dad took my sister and I every year for several years and stayed at the Contemporary
. That was a big deal for my Dad who was a blue collar worker. He saved all year for it and was so proud to be able to take my sister and I.
I have been to Disney World probably 25 times. My (now 18) year old daughter and I have been 4 times together and we are going again the end of August.
It's been 3 years and I am chomping at the bit! I want a Dole Whip! I want to ride my favorite ride....The Haunted Mansion. I want to sit on a bench at night and stare dreamily at the (beyond breathtaking) Cinderella's Castle as it changes hue.
I want to do it all and see it all because it never, ever gets old or ceases to facinate me! There is no place like Disney World....it is pure magic. The people that understand this...well, we just get it. The people that do not....I feel sorry for them.
For just a bit you get to feel like a child again full of happiness and wonder (no matter how many times you have been). I love it and hope to go for many more years to come.
Thank you Mr. Walt Disney. I hope you can see what your dream has become......ya did good!
